29 Mar Launch Royal Caribbean Maritime Training Center
Rotterdam. On Friday 29th of March, 2019 Tracy Murrell, Vice President Maritime Safety of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. opened the new Maritime Training Center at Simwave in Rotterdam. Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. now trains its technical and navigation crew at Simwave’s state-of-the-art training and simulation center, taking the next step in leading the way in safety and training.
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCCL), owner of the largest cruise ship in the world Symphony of the Seas, has developed its new maritime training center within the Simwave complex in Rotterdam in recent months. By choosing Simwave in Rotterdam as their training location, RCCL has access to the latest technology in maritime simulators, enabling them to train with their own procedures, their own ships and their own instructors. The connected simulators make it possible for the navigation crew on the bridge to train on the same simulated ship as the technical crew in the engine room, which makes Simwave unique.
“We are extremely proud that Royal Caribbean Cruises has chosen Simwave as its training center” says Marcel Kind, Managing Director of Simwave. “As a result of this collaboration, Simwave, as an independent player in the market, offers bespoke training courses and simulations and we enable cross-industry learning.”
Simwave is a 5000m2 training center in Rotterdam and makes the maritime industry safer by designing and offering solutions to maritime companies of all sizes. Through 59 different simulators we train for the bridge, engine room and cargo handling.
