Message from our CEO

2022 has arrived and we look to this new year with a lot of enthusiasm and we are eager to contribute to maintain and further enhance the competency of seafarers. We look forward to innovating, building new trainings and keep on providing a unique training experience!

In the last two years many trainings have been cancelled due to the pandemic and this can in turn increase specific risks in respect to ship operations.
Whilst the manning departments of different shipping companies started hiring new Officers and Crew, we have seen some Competency training and assessment either postponed or cancelled.
Hopefully, the 2022 will mark a new beginning as we can already see a sharp increase in trainings and assessments as well as in the use of our Learning Management System, so we can make sure that both the existing and new hired personnel are fully prepared to face operational challenges and meet the required company standards.

Amongst many others, we have developed a new feature in our LMS/CMS which allows to conduct online assessments. This new functionality will offer to our clients, the possibility to build a complete tailor made and unique assessment or set of different assessments levels, that can be taken by the participant when on board, at home or in a selected assessment centre.
Now we have also added to our extensive training portfolio, one more hybrid training. In this newsletter you will learn more about our Stability training, developed with the subject matter experts of Tratech Marine. This unique training starts with a Basic Stability Course to refresh knowledge of the participants and continues with a classroom based advanced course for specific ship types.

In this newsletter we would also like to introduce a new team member and ship handling expert Giuseppe Russo. As we are further expanding our pool of instructors, support staff and IT development team, every month we will introduce a new member joining Simwave.

In The Netherlands we said goodbye to 2021 with a lock down and a bit of sadness, but now everything has finally reopened, and we can see the people smiling back again. Shops and restaurants are indeed open again, but we still have preventive measures in place, like the use of face masks, 1.5 meter distance etc. When you receive the joining instructions to our facility, those required measures and overall precautions will be made clear to you. Our Customer Service team is always available to answer all your related queries and provide you with any remote and local support.

For the open enrolments more trainings are available, among IGF Code training, Polar Code Training and DP- training. If you like to learn more about our hybrid training, please feel free to contact our Customer Service to welcome@simwave.nl

Many thanks and stay safe!

Stability Training

Stability is one of those subjects where it’s easy to forget the fundamentals and not have the complete overview. The online training is meant to refresh already existing knowledge and understanding as well as it can be used as reference material.

In the online course participants learn about the basic principles, transverse static stability, transverse dynamic stability and stability regulations.

The course is co-developed with Tratech Marine AB, Mr. Lars-Peter Rosander & Magnus Bjelkemry. Lars-Peter and Magnus will also provide different bespoke stability training in our facility this year as well we will develop more online stability courses.
