Navigation Assessor course

Introduction

The Nautical Institute (The NI) Navigation Assessor Course provides guidance for participants who carry out navigational assessments under voyage conditions.

The course is designed to be delivered in two parts.

  • Part A is suitable for Internal Assessors who conduct navigation assessments only within their own organisation and in addition
  • Part B is suitable for External Assessors who will conduct navigational assessments on behalf of third parties.

Overall training outcome

After this course participants have gained knowledge and a good understanding of  the differences between an assessment and an audit, how to prepare a systematic approach to the navigation assessment, how to conduct the assessment and How to prepare an effective report on the standard of navigation found during the assessment
